As part of a concert tour in Europe, the group "Rincón de la marimba" of Oaxaca (Mexico) will perform on 17 September 2015 at 12:00 in the lobby of the Palais de l’Europe. The marimba is a kind of large xylophone with added resonators, which can be played simultaneously by several players (up to four). It is an extremely rich harmonic instrument, which allows the execution of a wide variety of musical styles.
The group "Rincón de la marimba" was one of the musical groups that welcomed on 28 June last the Orchestra and Chorus of UNESCO, together with members of the Council of Europe’s Choir, before their concert tour in Oaxaca, southwest of Mexico. To thank, through the group, the City and the State of Oaxaca for the particularly warm welcome given to the 75 participants in the Mexican tour, the Council of Europe’s Choir will join the group "Rincón de la marimba" to interpret the anthem of Oaxaca "Dios nunca muere".
This concert is presented jointly by the Permanent Mission of Mexico to the Council of Europe and by the Council of Europe’s staff Amicale.
