United by Music, Fortified by Hope!
Join us for an evening of solidarity and music that resonates with courage and hope, two years after the start of a conflict that has shattered lives and dreams. Amicale and Support Action Ukraine (SAU) invite you to a charity concert "Stolen Childhoods" for the children of Ukraine, at the Palais de la Musique et des Congrès de Strasbourg - Salle Erasme, on Thursday 28 March at 7.30pm.
Under the patronage of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe and the Liechtenstein Presidency, this event marks the start of the commemorations of the 75th anniversary of the Council of Europe. It is a celebration of life and an affirmation of our shared values.
Directed by the talented conductor Oksana Lyniv, the Ukrainian Youth Symphony Orchestra, enriched by the voices of 40 children and renowned Ukrainian soloists, will transform adversity into art. These talented young musicians, scattered across Europe by the war, are coming together in Strasbourg to express their resilience and their desire for peace through music.
The central piece, Evgeni Orkin's cantata "Daddy's Book", is not just a musical work, it is a memorial to lost childhoods and a declaration of resistance to the cruelty of war. It is also a tribute to the Ukrainian artists who lost their lives during the war. This French premiere will be accompanied by works by Respighi, Mendelssohn and Ravel, creating a musical narrative that moves from melancholy to hope.
