On the 120th birthday of the famous Armenian composer Aram Khachaturyan, the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre of Armenia is bringing to the forefront of the French stage a ballet rich in emotions - "Mascarade".

This exceptional concert, which will take place on October 26 and 27 at the Palais des Congrès in Paris, and on October 29 at the Zenith Europe in Strasbourg, is organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in France, the Association of Friends of the Embassy of Armenia in France and the "Franceconcert".

In 1941, Aram Khachaturyan composed Masquerade for the eponymous play by the Russian poet and playwright Mikhail Lermontov. It is thanks to the five-movement suite that this music has become memorable. The premiere took place on June 21, 1941 at the Vakhtangov Theater in Moscow.

Masquerade is a tragic play that mixes love, deception and mystery. It is during a grand masquerade ball that the destinies of the various characters intersect who, following an unfortunate mistake, are precipitated towards a dramatic resolution.

The premiere of the new performance of the ballet "Masquerade" (in 2 acts) took place on March 5 and 12, 2017 at the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater in Yerevan, choreographed by the People's Artist of Armenia Vilen Galstyan.
