BOOK TALK with Mark Blyth, co-author of

Calendar from 02/03/2020 to 02/03/2020

Dear friend of the European Parliamentary Association,

We are delighted to invite you to the opening event of “Meet the author”, a series of virtual book talks with internationally renowned political writers. On Tuesday 2 March, from 6:30 to 7 pm, you will have the opportunity to meet Mark Blyth, the William R. Rhodes '57 Professor of International Economics and Director of the Rhodes Center for International Economics and Finance at Brown University (Providence, United States).

To participate, you just have to click on this link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89182565501

Professor Blyth will present his latest book, “Angrynomics” (Columbia University Press, 2020), that he co-authored with Eric Lonergan.

In “Angrynomics”, Mark Blyth and Eric Lonergan try to make sense of the age of anger we live in, a time of revolt that Covid-19 looks set to intensify.

Why are measures of stress and anxiety on the rise when economists and politicians tell us we have never had it so good? While statistics tell us that the vast majority of people are getting steadily richer, the world most of us experience day in and day out feels increasingly uncertain, unfair, and ever more expensive. How can policy makers use public anger to reform economy and address injustices?

In “Angrynomics”, Blyth and Lonergan explore the rising tide of anger, sometimes righteous and useful, sometimes destructive and ill-targeted, and propose radical new solutions for an increasingly polarized and confusing world. “Angrynomics” is for anyone wondering, where the hell do we go from here?

We hope to see you there.

Yours sincerely,

Matteo ANGELI
