TRIBUTE TO EURIPIDE

TRIBUTE TO EURIPIDE

Calendar from 13/10/2020 to 14/10/2019

We would like to remind you of our invitation to two exceptional events dedicated to Euripides, one of the three greatest playwrights of ancient Greece :

Tuesday, October 13 at 8 pm at the Odyssey cinema:

Screening of the film Medea by Pier Paolo Pasolini in partnership with l'Arelas.
Sylvain Perrot, researcher at the CNRS, will introduce "the myth of Medea" before the screening of the film while Delphine Viellard, president of ARELAS, will give a brief overview of the film.
This film is of capital importance for several reasons: the filmmaking is the responsibility of one of the greatest directors of the 20th century, Pier Paolo Pasolini; moreover, the role of Medea is held by the unforgettable Maria Callas, a Greek diva with unforgettable talent, whose only film appearance is in this film.

Reduced rate of 4 euros for members of Alsace-Crète on presentation of their membership card.

MARIA CALLAS

Wednesday, October 14th at 6pm at the MISHA :

Conference with two voices with Luana Quattrocelli and Sylvain Perrot

"Tragedy in the service of democracy" (poster and details in PJ).
In a famous tirade by the Suppliantes, Theseus is the defender of democracy in the face of a Theban messenger who takes the side of tyranny...

Luana Quattrocelli is a lecturer in ancient Greek at the University of Strasbourg and deputy director of the Archimedes research unit (Archaeology and Ancient History: Mediterranean-Europe, UMR 7044 Archimedes).
Sylvain Perrot is an agrégé in Classics and a former member of the French School of Athens, doctor in Greek archaeology, research fellow at the CNRS (UMR7044 Archimède) and deputy director of the MISHA.
