The Green Section of the Amicale is excited to announce its next activity: “Walk to Work!” challenge 2020 to take place between 15 and 26 June. This challenge will run in parallel with the "Au boulot à vélo!" bike challenge and aims to encourage Council of Europe and Permanent Representation colleagues who live within a walking distance of the office to walk to work and back every day for 2 weeks, instead of taking the car or public transport. DGA supports this initiative and encourages staff to adopt eco-friendly attitudes in its “My 10 steps for the environment” campaign and its recent "Back to work: best transport options" news article.
The benefits of such an activity are multi-faceted: walking is the most eco-friendly mode of transport, is good for health and fitness, and can help you start and end the day with a more energetic and positive attitude. It can also minimise the health risks related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
During two weeks (Monday to Friday both weeks), participants should record all of the distance they have walked. At the end of the two weeks, and no later than 29 June, they should send us proof of the total distance to the email address below. The best way to do this would be to record the distance on a smartphone application or other device (sports watch, for example) and send us screenshots/photos.
At the end of the challenge, the 3 walkers who have recorded the highest distances will receive prizes (vouchers for a local nature shop or hamper of fresh local produce).
The participants of the challenge must be up to date with their Amicale subscription fees payment.
