Summary description of the planned exhibition

Juliane Wende shows the picture series Hotel, an excerpt from her long-term project, which she began in 2011. In her way of working, Juliane Wende controls her self-portraits and productions with mostly long exposure times of the camera, which lead to the person depicted mutating to a ghostly being and experiencing a melange of (self-)staging and randomness. In the mostly dreamlike, reflective sequences Juliane Wende forms an illusionistic memory and a preview of what has happened or could have happened in the hotel rooms.  Her works move at the interface of irony and pathos, show fantasies, a fantasy of human life in dialectical metaphors for homelessness, security, arrival, departure, lingering, restlessness, eroticism, loneliness, security, but also for warmth,     Cold, violence, love, despair, intimacy, closeness and alienation and finally the ultimate transience.
