Relay for Life – Ligue contre le Cancer – Relais pour la Vie
Each year the Council of Europe assembles a team of volunteers to walk or run a 24 hour Relay in a host town in the Bas-Rhin chosen by the Ligue contre le Cancer. A team rota enables participants to choose their hourly slot(s) during the day or night.
The event takes place every year in June/July primarily as an act of solidarity for those suffering with cancer. However it’s not just a sporting event. For the whole week-end, the host town puts on entertainment, workshops and refreshments for all the family to enjoy.
The aim of the Relay for Life is to raise awareness about issues surrounding the illness including support facilities and funds for a locally focused project within the host town area.
