As part of its ongoing social activities, AIACE (the International Association of former Staff Members of the Council of Europe) has organised an excursion to Sierck-les Bains and the Saar on Thursday 10 October. There remain some places available.

We would be delighted if serving staff and their families would like to join their former colleagues and to take part in this very interesting excursion.

Please find attached the program (in French only) which comprises a visit to the Malbrouck (Marlborough) castle, a gastronomical luncheon and a mini-cruise on the Moselle River. The program and an enrolment form are attached. We invite staff members wishing to participate to return kindly the enrolment form together with a cheque of € 85 per person to the Office of the AIACE (D Building) by 3 October at the latest.

Participants will take the bus chartered for this occasion which will be awaiting them on the car park of the Mercure Hotel, Place de Bordeaux on Thursday 10 October as from 8.30 am in order to take the road on the dot at 9 am.

PROGRAMME

• 08H30 - Le Car TRIBAK se trouvera devant l'hôtel Mercure (ex Holiday Inn), Place de Bordeaux
• 09h00 - Départ
• 11h30 - Arrivée à Sierck-les Bains (près de Thionville). Visite guidée (en fr.et angl.) du Château des ducs de Lorraine dit 'Marlbrough', à Manderen récemment restauré; sa magnifique muraille qui se dresse sur la colline, d'où (pour ceux/celles qui ont le courage de monter, vue panoramique sur le Luxembourg et l'Allemagne;
• 12h30 - départ pour Montenach (1,5 km);- le car nous dépose à l’Alte Brücke au Staatstheate;
• 12h45 à 14h30 - déjeuner à l’Auberge de la Klauss (terrine de sanglier--rôti de porc –tarte maison- boissons ( diététiques à négocier sur place)
• 15h00-16h30 - Temps libre : visite de la boutique gastro et cave exceptionnelle ou promenade dans le parc et ferme attenants peuplés de gibier, sangliers, oies, canards etc …
• 17h00 - 18h50 - Saarbrücken Alte Brück Personen Schiffahrt (compris café et gâteau)- minibar à disposition. ( R.V. le car nous dépose à l’Alte Brücke au Staatstheater que nous traversons à pied (200 m) pour trouver le Bateau « Frohsina » ou « Stadt Saarbrücken ». Parcours en bateau jusqu’à Güdingen à travers les écluses et retour
• 19h - Retour dans le car (Parking au théâtre ou en face du château)
• 21h30 - Arrivée Place de Bordeaux
