Calendar from 12/05/2022 to 12/06/2022

Dear Colleagues,

Sonia and Vidia are two of the babies born in the informal settlement of Pirita, in Baia Mare - Northern Romania, who live with their families in improvised shacks and huts, in the open fields, with no electricity, water or any other form of infrastructure. The settlement was formed 30 years ago and presently there are 67 families living there with 120 children, among which 37 small ones between 0 and 3 years old.

Aiming to reduce child mortality and health risks of babies born in abject poverty, the Pirita Children Association (see @piritachildren on Facebook) has started a Mother & Baby program and is trying to teach mothers (mostly illiterate, themselves coming from orphanages, or teenage mothers) basic notions of hygiene, nursing and child care while monitoring the health situation of each baby from the community. With the help of donations, a small incentive package is offered weekly for the babies (diapers, wipes, milk, baby creams, hygiene products, medicine when needed etc.)

BABY CLOTHES are also needed, and this is mainly why I am asking for your kind contributions. If you have clothes (bodysuits / onesies, bottoms, tops, tights , hats, socks and pajamas, size 0 to 36 months old)  from your own children that they no longer wear, these can be very useful for our babies in Pirita. I will take charge of organising and sending them to Romania myself. Alternatively, you can contribute to the fund dedicated to Pirita Mothers & Babies, one weekly package for a baby costing 10 Euro. You can make a transfer directly in the account of the association in Romania (I can give you the details), or through me, as their volunteer going to work with the children from the community twice a year.

Thank you in advance for your kind support.

Ana
