The Amicale is pleased to invite you to Mr Javed Akhtar's conference on Indian cinema on 5 November 2019.

Cinema, with its songs, has been the major cultural influence of Indian society, which in turn has profoundly shaped Indian films. Former member of the Rajya Sabha (Upper House of India), Javed Akhtar - storyteller, major poet, screenwriter of several films that have become "classic", lyricist of more than 800 songs and the inspiration behind the 2012 Amendments that introduced the concepts of European copyright into Indian copyright law - will reveal how cinema and Indian society have influenced each other, bringing about profound social and cultural changes.

Mr. Akhtar is currently President of the Indian Performing Right Society (equivalent to the French SACEM).

The conference, in English, will take place on 5 November 2019 at 5pm in Room 9 of the Palais de l'Europe.
