Concert Council of Europe 70th anniversary

Calendar the 24/05/2019

Concert of May 24, 2019 at 7:30 pm

Palais de l'Europe, Strasbourg

The Council of Europe, which was created on 5 May 1949 by the Treaty of London at the joint initiative of France and the UK, has lived through 7 decades, which will be illustrated by songs and historical events.

One week after the ministerial meeting in Helsinki, during which crucial decisions were taken concerning the Council of Europe’s future, this "70th anniversary concert", under the patronage of the French Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers, is a way for the Amicale to show its commitment to our fundamental values. We are convinced that these are more essential now than ever before, and we have decided to reflect this conviction in music and song, drawn for the most part from our rich European heritage.

The concert will be in two parts. The first will bring together more than 70 choristers from the Council of Europe and UNESCO, along with soloists and professional musicians from Paris and Strasbourg, to perform a classical and lyrical repertoire. The second will be made up of pop or rock songs, performed by staff and friends and highlighting our linguistic and artistic diversity - hence the title: Opera / 70 / Rock.

The hemicycle is fully booked.
