Calendar from 28/09/2025 to 28/07/2026

The CHESS CLUB of the Council of Europe currently has over 40 members from the various buildings (PALAIS - NPDH - AGORA - EDQM).

The club's activities include 9 lessons per quarter (except July/August/September) given by an instructor from the Cercle d'Echecs de Strasbourg, for a fee. Lessons take place on  Tuesdays from 12:30 to 1:30 pm in the Palais - Office 0084 (lift 5).

The CHESS CLUB regularly organizes internal tournaments at the Council of Europe, where members compete. Simultaneous games (where members play against a Grand Master) are also organized and are open to all Council staff (whether CHESS CLUB members or not).

CHESS CLUB members can also play casual games in a convivial atmosphere, using the chessboards available free of charge in the Parliamentarians Bar in the Palais de l'Europe.

As members of the Cercle d'Echecs de Strasbourg, CHESS CLUB members can access the Cercle’s premises in the centre of Strasbourg to meet other players (http://cercledechecsdestrasbourg.net/).

To join the CHESS CLUB of the Council of Europe, please contact Mr Thierry LAJOIE directly by email (thierry.rosaria@outlook.fr) or telephone (06 17 42 09 63).

The CHESS CLUB includes (and encourages the participation of) players of all levels, including absolute beginners.
