“The Mugham, a traditional Azerbaijani musical genre, was inscribed on UNESCO's List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2008. It is characterized by a high degree of improvisation combining a male or female singer with typical instruments, notably the tar (long-necked lute), the kamantcha (four-stringed spike violin) and the gaval (a kind of tambourine).”
