The Amicale’s Film Club, in cooperation with the Permanent Mission of Portugal to the Council of Europe, invites all staff and members of the Permanent Representations to a screening of São Jorge by Marco Martins on Thursday, 27 February, at 12h15 in the Projection Room of the Palais, with the participation of the Permanent Representative of Portugal to the Council of Europe.

The film will be screened in Portuguese with English subtitles.

Synopsis:

Drowning in debt, unemployed boxer Jorge is on the verge of losing his young son and Brazilian wife. Like many Portuguese families and businesses struggling under the European troika bailout measures, he is unable to repay his loans. Jorge needs to pay off his debts and convince his unhappy wife not to leave Portugal to make a living. Due to his intimidating physique, Jorge must reluctantly accept a job with a collection agency which drags him into a world of violence and crime.
