On Tuesday 17 December 2024, Ambassador UCHIDA, Permanent Observer of Japan to the CoE presented a Certificate of Honour to the Japanese Section of the Amicale of the Council of Europe at his residence. Denis Huber, President of the Amicale, received the Certificate which will be proudly displayed.
Created in 2014 and made up of CoE staff members, the Japanese section has done its best to promote Japanese language and culture among Council of Europe staff. In 2024, to celebrate its 10th anniversary, the section organised events such as a tea ceremony and a haiku competition, which were much enjoyed by Council staff.
The Japanese section plans to organise more cultural events in 2025. Look out for our now annual haiku competition which will be launched on 11 February to mark the Japanese National Foundation Day. The Japanese Section of the Amicale is delighted to be able to count on and benefit from the support of the Consulate General in order to strengthen the ties of mutual understanding and cooperation between Japan and the Council of Europe.
