The Ukrainian section of Amicale in cooperation with Permanent Representation of Ukraine to the Council of Europe invites the staff of the Council of Europe to a screening of the documentary film, Family Album, in the presence of the Director of the film Maryna Tkachuk and the main character British journalist Samara Pierce.
Family Album reveals a terrible historical sequence between the Holodomor of 1932-1933 and the ongoing atrocities faced by Ukrainians today.
This film traces these parallels through the family history of main character - British photographer Samara Pierce and her great-grandfather, Austrian Alexander Wienerberger, who documented the horrors of the Holodomor in the city of Kharkiv. Nearly a century later, Pierce reveals new evidence of similar oppression in the same region, showcasing the disturbing similarities in methods, intentions, and perpetrators.
At its heart, the documentary highlights "the man with a camera" as a symbol of truth and justice. Through the lenses of Wienerberger and Pierce, Family Album shares compelling visual evidence of genocide and reinforces a commitment to sharing the truth of Ukraine's suffering with the world.
The screening will take place in projection room on the ground- floor of the “Palais” building of European Council, November 26 at 6pm.
