To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Amicale's Japanese section as part of the Council of Europe’s 75th anniversary, we invite you to enjoy a cup of tea and Japanese pastries (wagashi) during your lunch break. Our Mistress of ceremonies, Madame Yaeko Heinisch (teacher at the prestigious Stuttgart Omotesenke Teeschule Stuttgart tea school) will unveil the mysteries of this ceremony, so important in the land of the rising sun...
The tea ceremony, or “chanoyu” or “sadô” in Japanese, is much more than simply drinking tea. It's a traditional Japanese practice that goes back centuries. It emphasizes aesthetics, inner peace and mutual respect.
At the heart of this ceremony is matcha tea, a special green tea powder prepared with care. The preparation of tea is a meticulous ritual, where every gesture is carried out with intention and delicacy.
The tea ceremony often takes place in a tea pavilion, a tranquil space designed to encourage meditation and contemplation. Guests enter with a humble bow, marking the beginning of an experience imbued with respect and gratitude.
During the ceremony, the host prepares the tea following a set of precise gestures. Every movement, from cleaning the utensils to preparing the tea itself, is carried out with particular attention to beauty and simplicity.
Once the tea has been prepared, the host presents it to the guests, who drink it in silence, enjoying each sip and meditating on the moment.
The tea ceremony is much more than just a drink. It's an opportunity to connect with nature, find inner peace and celebrate the beauty of simplicity.
Come and discover this ceremony with us!
