Europe at the crossroads:
Denis Huber, President of the Amicale, will give a conference on 3 May at 7pm on "The Council of Europe and the European Union facing the challenges of geopolitical recomposition at the European and global levels", at the invitation of MAIF.
The Covid pandemic and the war in Ukraine have profoundly changed European and world geopolitics following the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of the USSR.
The Council of Europe, one year after Russia's exclusion and in the wake of its 74th anniversary, will redefine its role and priorities at the Reykjavik Summit on 16-17 May 2023.
The European Union, for its part, faces the dual challenge of continuing its integration to embody a powerful Europe and to prepare for further enlargement by welcoming Ukraine and Moldova, but also the countries of South-East Europe that have long been in the EU's antechamber.
