SIMULTANEOUS ON TUESDAY APRIL 4, 2023

Written written the 12/04/2023

On Tuesday April 4 between noon and two, at the Bar des Parlementaires du Palais de l'Europe, a simultaneous game was held between around twenty players and Mr. ROOS (International Master of the Cercle d'Échecs de Strasbourg).

This simultaneous – version 1 – took place in the most beautiful way. The speakers, Mr. ROOS and Mr. BABAJEW of the Cercle d'Échecs de Strasbourg, but also Mr. Denis HUBER, president of the Amicale as well as the twenty participants present were delighted to share this moment which was both exciting and rich in 'education. As President of the Chess Club, I would like to congratulate the players for their perspicacity, their stubbornness and their finesse of play which enabled them to postpone the fateful moment as late as possible since the 18 games were all won by M .ROOS. It was finally with a warm handshake that the duels ended and the actors were able to converse and discuss the blows won or lost. On the strength of this wonderful and encouraging experience, I give you an appointment for a simultaneous - version 2 - for the end of November - beginning of December, which this time could take place at the NPDH.

Club life

The Chess Club, following this simultaneous, now has 41 members spread over the 5 buildings of the Council of Europe.

MEETINGS DAY

The meeting days at the Bar des Parlementaires du Palais de l'Europe - moments of intense games during which the members of the Chess Club can compete - are possible on Thursdays 6, 13 and 20 April between noon and two.

BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE COURSES

Classes for the 2nd term (April – May – June) continue to take place every Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. (Office 0082 – elevator 5). Mr. Babajew, speaker of the Strasbourg Chess Circle, provides the lessons. 8 members attend regularly.

Those who wish to take part in the 4th term lessons (October – November – December) can register now at the Chess Club by contacting Thierry LAJOIE – contact: thierry.rosaria@outlook.fr or 06 17 42 09 63

An internal tournament project between the different Council buildings (Palais / CEDH / AGORA / Pharmacopée) is being studied for the second half of September. Four teams (one per building) made up of 3 or 4 players could then compete.

In the more distant future and in order to follow up on the internal tournament, an external tournament including other administrative entities (Parliament / Strasbourg City Hall / ARTE / Eurocorps) could be organised. A team emanating from the various buildings of the Council and representing the Chess Club, would then be formed in order to face the other Clubs.
