On the occasion of a tragic day of the start of the full-scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine a compendium of short films “Overcoming the Darkness” will be screened on Friday, 24 February 2023 at 12:00-14:00 in the Projection room in Palais de l`Europe.

The film presents Ukrainian cities, heroically defending themselves against the Russian invasion and the struggle of the Ukrainians for the right to exist freely on their land.

Each film depicts Ukrainian villages, towns, and cities, where people are facing a world-scale tragedy. The events taking place create a certain map of the war. The Ukrainians are fighting for their land, culture, and identity. Stories of witnesses showcase the horrendous reality of war. But also, the incredible mutual support, faith, and the will for freedom.

The film has been produced by Kinodopomoha Collective, a voluntary association of Ukrainian film industry activists who document the events and fates of the Ukrainians during the war.

The screening is organised by the Ukrainian section of Amicale and Association “PromoUkraїna”.
