It’s back: inter-departmental football tournament 2022!

Calendar the 11/06/2022

The moment many of you have been waiting for has finally come! A next edition of the inter-departmental football tournament is intended to take place this year (Covid-19 situation permitting)!

Normally, every other year, colleagues gather for a pleasant and friendly tournament between departments as well as Permanent Representations of the Council of Europe. The last tournament, its 10th edition, was organised in 2019 and as usual consisted of a sun-drenched day of banner waving, team dances and songs, lots of children’s activities, and of course some top-quality football!

The 2021 edition had to unfortunately be cancelled due to Covid-19 related restrictions. For the same reason, the announcement for this year’s tournament comes with a relatively short notice.

The 2022 edition will take place on Saturday 11 June at the Stade de l'Ill and will for sure be packed with even more excitement and fun than the previous one. The formula remains unchanged: mixed teams of 7 female/male players play on a half-pitch, in games of 15-20 minutes. A draw will decide the distribution of teams into groups.

To sign up your team, we invite captains to contact Eoghan Kelly (eoghan.kelly@coe.int) or Jochen Pauwels (jochen.pauwels@edqm.eu) with your team name by 13th of May.

Additional information on the day (including team members’ registration, the tournament regulations, on-site fresh drinks and catering and children’s activities) will be detailed on the tournament website shortly.

In order to cover part of the costs, a contribution of 45 € per team is required.
