On this Saturday 19 March, the 8th day of the "Printemps des Poètes", we share one of our colleague Nadia Katrib's favourite poems.
THE LETTER
By the light of a candle
I write these few words to you
These few words to say that here
We're going to the front soon
But don't worry about me
I've got the health just from boredom
Courage, trust, pray for me
We'll soon be reunited
I'm writing from the trench
I don't have a minute to myself
So how are the little ones
Still no news from you
Please write to me every day
I have hours of nostalgia
Danger scares me in turn
Are there still days and nights
I enclose some photographs
The one of the soldier under the apple tree
Could make us forget that here
Our joys as kids are gone
I still hope that my star
I'll come back to the world
That all will not end badly
In this mud, this filthy war
