Calendar from 01/03/2019 to 01/03/2019

The Amicale’s Francophonie section is pleased to invite you to a showing of Un projet de ouf (An Awesome Plan), a film made by the Lesisz family. It takes place on Friday 1 March in Room 5 of the Palais de l’Europe. A discussion with the audience will be held afterwards.

It’s an incredible adventure for Basile (7 years old) and Charlotte (9), together with their parents Olivier and Emeline, who had the mad idea to take the family, in a specially adapted 4×4 vehicle, on the overland route from Strasbourg to Hanoi in Vietnam – a 50 000 km voyage of discovery through Asia, taking in 13 countries in 272 days, including Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, China, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia.

It was a world of discovery for the two young travellers, with surprise encounters, hassles at border-crossings, new food experiences and many happy moments. But above all, they learnt about tolerance and respect for other cultures, the values of humanity and brotherhood which their parents, both well into their thirties, have always sought to teach them. A lesson for life with, as a bonus, the wonders of the world and stunning landscapes!

But it’s not their first big adventure!

In 2014, aged 4 and 6, the children travelled with their family through the Americas for five months, from Guyana in the south to Canada in the north.

Travelling by car gives them the independence to stray from the well-trodden paths and open themselves to chance encounters, to live simply in the style of the countries they pass through and the people they meet, whether Mongols, Tibetans, Uyghurs, Laotians, Khmers or Kyrgyz.

They delight in sharing these adventures as a family, in living day-to-day moments of happiness with strangers from the wide world … even in getting lost in the middle of nowhere!

Back at home for the moment, they are keen to share: to share every experience, both good and bad.
