Hampers of organic produce: new delivery service from “Le Jardin de Marthe”

Hampers of organic produce: new delivery service from “Le Jardin de Marthe”

Calendar from 28/06/2018 to 28/06/2018

The Green Section of the Amicale is delighted to announce that the delivery of hampers of organic produce from “Le Jardin de Marthe” will begin on 28 June! Run by the same family for three generations, this garden market guarantees organic and local products grown with care.

The hampers will be delivered every Thursday between 12.30 pm and 1 pm to the parking space near Agora PC Est/Quai Jacoutot (see the attached map). The orders must be made via their website and paid online not later than the Wednesday prior to the delivery at 12 pm (i.e. 24 hours before the delivery on Thursday). You will need to create an account on the website to be able to order and to proceed with the payment. The orders must be picked up by staff.

The garden offers 2 deals:

  • A hamper of seasonal organic and local fruits and vegetables at €15 (suitable for 1-2 persons; you can check out the weekly selection here)
  • A personalised hamper (minimum order of €15, any fruits and/or vegetables of your choice which are available)

“Le Jardin de Marthe” is an eco-responsible producer, therefore the goodies will be delivered in a wooden box (free of charge) or a reusable bag (€2.60, the bag must be also ordered online on the website; it can be reused for future deliveries, i.e. you give it back – you get a new one containing your goodies).

Important: please mention “Council of Europe” as the delivery address when making an order online.

Staff are invited to attend an open doors day at “Le Jardin de Marthe” on 24 June from 10 am and also to attend during the first delivery to get to know the producer on 28 June between 12.30 pm and 1 pm (don’t forget to order by 27 June, 12 pm!).

The Green Section is proud to launch this eco-responsible partnership and to support a small local producer (based 10 minutes’ walk from the Council premises) of seasonal and organic fruits and vegetables!

Bonus: a few explanations on why buying organic, local and seasonal products is the best choice.

Why organic? Organic products don’t contain (or contain very few) pesticides, hormones and GMOs, have more nutrients and vitamins – in other words, it is a long-term investment in your health! Buying organic also helps us to protect the environment – organic farmers treat their land in a natural and respectful way and without the use of dangerous chemicals.

Why seasonal? Seasonal products are tastier as they get just the right amount of sun, have more nutritional value as they are fully grown, are better for your wallet as the seasonal supply is usually bigger, and are also great for the environment as they are cultivated in a more natural way without additional chemicals to speed up their growth!

Why local? Buying local means supporting local economy and small local producers, getting fresher products and also benefitting the environment as the environmental impact of transporting local products to nearby sales points is much lower.
