Carlo Ruggeri was born March 2, 1947 in Bedonia (province of Parma in Italy) since 1964 amateur photographer, I discovered this technique in 2016.

I am a freelance illustrator who swings between illustration and ceramic accessories. The white of the porcelain inspires me like a blank sheet of paper and gives me the satisfaction of actually holding and wear an object of creation.

A travers les photographies d’un lieu qui lui est cher, un lieu à la nature encore intacte qui se trouve le long de la Bruche, Matthieu cherche à nous faire partager la sérénité et la quiétude qui l’habite lorsqu’il se promène le long de ces berges. Afin de retranscrire au mieux ces sentiments mêlés, il choisit d’utiliser des techniques photographiques anciennes, « des techniques d’une époque où la prise de vue et le tirage nécessitaient patience et réflexion ».

For almost 15 years, I've been helping my wife, Mireille, in firing her sculptures, before begining to make pottery myself. Raku is a firing and enameling technique which was born during the 16^th century in Japan.

After having sculpted or thrown the different subjects from a lump of clay, I fire them during 24 hours (1^st burn) in a potter's kiln (980°). Then, I glaze them before firing (2nd burn) them again (950 - 1020°) in a gas kiln during 45 minutes.
