L’artiste travaille ... Read more »

On 25 April 1974, the Portuguese regained their freedom. A movement of young captains overthrew Salazar's dictatorial regime in a matter of hours and with virtually no bloodshed. A carnation was planted in their buttonhole and on the barrel of their rifle. The year 2024 thus marks the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, a major event in Portugal's contemporary history and an international influence for democracy. It is against this backdrop that Franco-Portuguese artist Nathalie Afonso ... Read more »

As a resident of Strasbourg, I have been living and studying there since my arrival in France in 2001. Originally from Albania, I owe my inspiration to this symbolic country. It was during my studies of Visual Arts at the University of Strasbourg that I was able to embark on my artistic projects. I envisioned coffee as a medium not so long ago. As a child, I already saw my mother use coffee frequently to read the future through the stains. Like her, I did not only see coffee, but a symbol dedicated ... Read more »

For a number of years, I have been drawing sculptures from the cathedral at the Œuvre Notre-Dame Museum in Strasbourg. Young women, named Wise Virgins and Foolish Virgins in the Bible (Matthew 25, 1-13) particularly appeal to me. They almost all wear a veil and testify to their individuality by the attitude of their bodies and the expressiveness of their faces.
What is accepted in art history is often a challenge to our Western gaze today. Women wearing a veil sometimes irritate us, destabilize ... Read more »

The art exhibition which the artist would like to propose, “The Spirit inside Sculpture”, came to mind during the realisation of an art work featuring seven archangels of the Christian religion. Deepening the studies of angelology, the artist discovered that also in the Judaism and Islam, like in Christianity there were “intermediary beings” capable of transmitting God’s wish and bringing the Word of God. My artistic work is not linked to a traditional training: it was built outside an academic painting school. However, the requirements of writing learned during my studies of Literature intersect with those of the art of painting: to reveal emotions through a figurative or non-figurative composition. For this exhibition, I chose a diversity of subjects to present my watercolours. ... Read more »

A Walk through Urban and Rural Environments
Through a series of photographs depicting urban and rural environments, the artist reflects on the motif of movement through both environments. On the one hand, the artist is attracted by relaxing landscapes with the occasional passer-by in motion, and, on the other hand, moments of movement are captured in unmistakably urban environments. In both cases, the photos convey anchored moments of complete repose and the beauty of a single step forward. The ... Read more »

Stylised flower which the artist repeatedly paints in the public space marking his physical journey of life is a symbol of youth and a blossoming universal love. For the past 30 years, Sarajevo has been known as a hero city, which survived the longest siege in modern history.
