MILICA ŽIVADINOVIĆ, PhD Born in Belgrade in 1975. She lives and creates between her two cities: Paris and Belgrade since 1999. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Versailles, then received PhD from the University of Paris 8. She published her PhD thesis in a monographic publication “Miodrag Mića Popović (1923-1996)” in French in 2014 by Editions l’Age d’Homme from Switzerland, with the support of French National Book Center, then in Serbian, published by Orion Art. She has been a member of ULUS (Association of Artist of Serbia) since 2008 and the Maison des Artistes. As a visual artist, she has so far held over 20 independent exhibitions in Paris, Belgrade and throughout Serbia (the most important cycles are: Cosmic’Eye, Cosmic Harmony and Wandering ornaments of Serbia). She has participated in over 40 collective exhibitions throughout Europe. Her current art cycle is marked by stylized ornaments from the famous Pirot kilims, transposed into authentic oil paintings on canvas, as well as a contemporary view of traditional motifs in her art jewelry. The project “Joy of the heritage” unites her eclectic approach to ethnology, wonderful colors and ornamentation, an unusual combination of the traditional and the contemporary. This new life of Pirot kilims and their patterns which carry strong symbolism is presented in a way that is appealing to the eye and conceivable to any observer from throughout the world. She realized the project “Kaleidoscope of Serbia” with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of Republic of Serbia and presented it worldwide through the diplomatic consular network. She is the author of the monographs: “Ornaments of Serbia - Pirot kilim” published by Laguna in 2022 and “Magic of the Pirot kilim – collection of the family Nikolic", KosmikArt, 2023). Winner of the “Star of Belgrade 2021” award of the Youth Offices of the City of Belgrade.
