Stylised flower which the artist repeatedly paints in the public space marking his physical journey of life is a symbol of youth and a blossoming universal love. For the past 30 years, Sarajevo has been known as a hero city, which survived the longest siege in modern history. Its suffering, grief, as well as resilience, were depicted through the symbol of "Red Rose" -- a grenade-made mark in the concrete painted in red. Lead by the belief in the universal power of love, which can overrun the conflict, the artist decided to create his own flower. Overtime, the simple flowers drawn using the one-line drawing technique, became a new symbol of Sarajevo - the symbol of its spirit, kindness, and love-giving citizens. Iniataly, the flowers were painted in public space - the buildings' corners, passages, garages etc. Year after year, they started blossoming wherever the artist travelled, planting the seeds of love and resilience inspired by Sarajevo. Nowadays, the "Flowers of happiness" are growing everywhere - in public spaces all around Europe, but also on canvases, papers, and various places where you least expect them. Benjamin Čengić was born on 24.4.1993. in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Growing up in 90s and 2000s he was influenced by graffiti painted on the ruins and destroyed buildings left over from the war, so in his early age he as well, found a way of beautifying his environment through graffiti. Fifteen years later, he is one of the most prolific and well-known street artists in Sarajevo. After finishing high school, he enrolled Academy of Performing Arts where he graduated on the Department for Production and Management and started working in the film industry. Besides working for the Sarajevo Film Festival for several years, he has also worked on numerous films, among others, Oscar Nominated "Quo Vadis Aida" by Jasmila Žbanić. He is the producer of a short film “Svjedok” (The Vitness) by Alen Šimić,. In 2016. he organized a group of like-minded youth into a Non-government organization called “Obojena Klapa” (Colored Slate) which they are using to create projects that will help developing a street art scene Bosnia and Herzegovina, focused mainly in Sarajevo. In 2021 Benjamin organized a street art festival “FASADA” in Sarajevo which continues to create an open air galleries in the city, hosting world renowned artists. The same year he co-founded a Contemporary Arts Gallery "Manifesto" which is the leading independent gallery in Sarajevo. His artistic practice is diverse. From painting street art and murals, surrealistic oil painting, to abstract paintings, Benjamin is creating his own manuscript, but is mostly recognisable through stylised, one line drawn flowers. He deals with topics of love, nature and ecology, concept of time, and expression of the truth. technique used: Spraypaint on canvas dimensions of the artwork: 10 artworks sizes from 60x80 to 200x80
