Lukas Serre is a Franco-German visual artist with a background in industrial design whose love for art and science, as well as his search for universality and subjective expression culminate in this collection of collages.

The exhibition „Fragments of the Imagination“ aims at bridging the gap between the figurative and the abstract, between the personal and the collective or between randomness and meaning.

The featured A3 prints of photographed collages showcase the emergence of directionality and dialogue from the piecing together of disintegrated source materials. Whether consciously cut from contemporary catalogues or torn out of a personal photo archive, the fragments and their recognisable as well as disfigured contents come together on the page, organising into a kaleidoscope of universal themes and motifs through the viewer. Their subjective contemplation and the collective unconscious within them finalise the emergence of meaning from reassembled randomness.
