Looking at my sculptures, having read a lot of comics and books of science and fantasy, you can guess where my inspiration comes from. My previous career as lighting director for television has undeniably influenced my choice of colours. I worked on many variety shows, as well as on fashion shows. My job also allowed me to visit museums and galleries, taking advantage of my work to study the works. Self-taught artist, I came to sculpture, but also to painting and photography, after having stopped my previous job, following an accident at work. I started to materialise what had made me dream in museums. But with my own perception, and my own style.
My travels and stays in China, in the United States, and especially in Italy, have undeniably influenced my work, opening me to other artistic dimensions where colour is omnipresent. Italy has probably inspired me the most. I went there several times, for work, then for pleasure; if I did not live in Strasbourg, I think that Venice would surely be my choice.
I chose ceramic, which allows to express my creativity in sculpture through a rich palette of colours. Enamels have something magical: when they are applied, they have a colour, and when cooked another. My creations are small pieces, which give free rein to my fantasy. The surprises after baking, when I ventured to mixtures or random overlays, give a result sometimes unexpected, amazing and simply great.
I am also sensitive to the ecological dimension of ceramics, for which I only use natural products. Earth, as long as it is not cooked, is reusable to infinity. It is not invasive, as can be stone, which requires a place dedicated to its practice and certain physical abilities. A small space is enough for earth; my living room witnessed the modelling, the shaping and the colouring of all my ceramics.
