Ingrid Rodewald – Constructions
Ingrid Rodewald's exhibition "Constructions" is a series of urban collages on canvas frames ideally suited to the setting of the Council of Europe. Of German extraction, Ingrid Rodewald has been living in Strasbourg for several years. She is a professional artist who has had regular exhibitions in the galleries and museums of France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Mexico and Dubai. Her collages are constructed from today's advertising posters, the matter of our projection that builds our real world, which she transforms, creating new world from the initial advertising message: from the smooth surface of the original material emerges a multidimensional image. By juxtaposing tears and fractures, she creates pictures of a strange and poetic calm. The composed imaginary structures are reminiscent of the original architecture in its true context. Devoid of any human presence, these urban landscapes, constructed purely of buildings and architectural details, evoke the impermanence and fragility of life. For this exhibition, she has chosen a series of urban collages, one of her main themes as an artist. Here, the ephemeral messages of the advertising world are inspected and refined; the new images focus on the essentials. The fragments of architecture and the poster impression are analysed, the individual perception becomes the subject of the work. Ingrid Rodewald deconstructs the world suggested in advertising to reconstruct new images that suggest another view of reality, another interpretation. Her creations prompt us to challenge our perception of reality and of our environment.
