"Le Mois Kréyol" Festival

"Le Mois Kréyol" Festival

On the occasion of the International Creole Day, the Caribbean Dance and Francophonie sections invite you on 11 October, at 4 p.m. in Room 9 of the Palais de l'Europe, to a round table on the theme: "Which Creole languages to teach today? ».

This round table was organized as part of the "Le Mois Kréyol" Festival, a crossroads where ultra-marine cultures meet other cultures present in France "hexagonal".

This multidisciplinary artistic and scientific festival, for its third edition in France, from 9 October to 9 November, offers a wide programme of theatre, dance, music, storytelling, documentaries, round tables and workshops in all disciplines.

As an itinerant, he is welcomed in various places of culture and knowledge in France, metropolitan France and overseas.
Its main objective is to bring together the French-speaking cultures of overseas France by highlighting their Creole dimension. It is in this sense that artists, actors from the cultural world and specialists from the French-speaking and Creole cultures come together and meet the public, questioning the (im)material heritage, between past and present, between tradition and modernity to take a fresh look at it at the crossroads of continents and cultures.

This round table is organised as part of the first Strasbourg edition of the Festival. It will focus on the specific challenges of teaching Creole languages, linked to their linguistic and sociolinguistic characteristics.

To mark the occasion, the Council of Europe Choir will perform songs in Creole on the same day at 13:00 (Agora Hall).

An exhibition of founding texts and excerpts from Caribbean literature will also punctuate this day.
