Europe in Bulgarian : poster exhibition

Calendar from 11/05/2018 to 24/05/2018

The Cyrillic alphabet is the third official alphabet of the European Union after the Latin alphabet and the Greek alphabet. Cyrillic is a basic identification code for Bulgarian culture and spirituality. "Europe in Bulgarian" is the latest project of the platform for poster art by contemporary Bulgarian visual artists - http://plakatkombinat.com

"Europe in Bulgarian" is an exhibition of 20 posters  of several Bulgarian artists who will visually tell different stories related to Bulgarian culture. The exhibition is organised in connection with the first Bulgarian presidency of the European Union (January-June 2018) and the Bulgarian alphabet festival (24 May 2018).

Each poster contains a word written in Bulgarian and is related to Bulgarian culture. Some of the words of the project "Europe in Bulgarian" are part of the project "Graphonetica", which presents the similarity between the pronunciation and the writing of certain words and cultural concepts in the different European languages. For example, words like: opera, duet, idea, museum, utopia, technology, aesthetics, Europe, album. Thus, concepts related to the qualities and character of Bulgarian and European culture will be communicated through the use of similar words.
