Calendar from 17/09/2014 to 24/06/2015

Ms Mariko WATANABE, a young Japanese student from Tokyo, living in Strasbourg for 2 years now, who speaks English and French, is proposing a course on the Japanese language and culture for beginners or pseudo-beginners, as from 17 September 2014 (first lesson from 12:00 to 13:00 - Agora - Room A1.08V)..

The goal is to enable participants to reach a level of daily conversation in Japanese, and/or to prepare for a journey to the land of the Rising Sun.

This course is also recommended to those who practice Japanese martial arts and want to better understand the Japanese frame of mind!

Course duration: 1 hour per week, on Wednesdays, from 12:00 to 14:00 (exact times will be determined after establishment of the group(s)) – Room: A1.08V at the Agora.

Course content:

  • 40 minutes dedicated to the Japanese language: presentation of the Japanese language system (writing, pronunciation, basic grammar); writing exercises in Hiragana and Katakana (primers), two of the three forms of Japanese writing; basic conversation (following the book "Le Japonais" Assimil, Band: Sans peine) http://fr.assimil.com/methodes/le-japonais#livre)
  • 20 minutes dedicated to the presentation of Japan: Japanese culture; geography; customs; cuisine; the Japanese way of thinking; politics.

Some practical sessions are also planned (Origami, Furoshiki, traditional games etc..).

Teacher: Mariko WATANABE

Having completed my studies at the Faculty of Law at Chuo University in Tokyo, I am currently studying for a Master 2 in International Public Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Strasbourg. I speak French and English. I have already worked several times in an international environment as an assistant in an international University Centre, and as an advisor to international students in Japan and corrector of Japanese for foreigners. Through this work, I have had regular opportunities to teach Japanese and explain Japanese culture to foreigners.
