Presentation of the association

‘’Comme une image’’ is an intercultural and solidarity association, which promote social links and cultural diversity. In France and abroad, ‘’comme une image’’ leads projects enabling especially young people to invest themselves into solidarity and citizen actions, like globalization, intergenerational relationships, environmental and humanitarian care.

‘’Comme une image’’ is aimed mainly at young people having to face social, cultural or professional issues. The purpose is to set them into projects which will enable them to reinforce their self-respect, confidence… in order to increase their chances to succeed in their own personal projects.

Presentation of the project: 1000 kms for Haïti

This project has two main purposes:

  • Offering the adequate audiovisual equipment to ‘’les petits producteurs d’images’’ in order to enable them to produce images of their own country. In 2014, an itinerant exhibition will be organized in France to allow the public to see Haïti under a new lens!
  • Enabling young people from 15 to 20 years old to invest themselves in an intercultural project and to facilitate the awareness of their potential and capabilities.

‘’Comme une image’’ believes that the right to control one’s personal image should be considered as a Human Right. By offering the means to young Haitian people to create images of their country and the way of living in Haiti, ‘’Comme une image’’ contributes to offer a different view as the one shown by powerfull media companies.

In order to get sufficient money needed and to promote this project, almost 30 young Ambassadors of Solidarity and their supervisors have multiplied the meetings everywhere in France. They have been to Paris, Aras, Arcueil, Strasbourg, Lyon, Perpignan, Barcelone, St Estève, Le Canigou…

The will to make this project a success has had an extraordinary result on the perception young people have of themselves. They come to realize their potential, which would may not have been the case in the classical structures used to take care of young people with social issues.

This project is also supported by Vanessa Matignon (Ambassador of Haiti in France) and Jean Galfione (Olympic Champion).
