Ludwig Cluyse - Transmutation

Link to the artist's website : Website

Born in Belgium in 1965, Ludwig Cluyse has had a passion for art, and painting in particular, since youth. He graduated from the University of Ghent and dedicated time and heart to painting while pusuing a successful career as a project manager in the digital world. He devoted several years to the study of astrophysical phenomena. Throughout Ludwig’s journey, art has been an inseparable part of his life. After a definitive decision, the artist has spent the last few years working exclusively on his art, using oil-painting techniques. He has exhibited in Brussels and in Flemish cultural institutes. Ludwig Cluyse is inspired by the Belgian surrealist movement in his search for a synthesis of Old-Master techniques and new forms of expression. The depiction of the human body and portraiture remain favorite vehicles in the artist’s pursuit of emotions and ideas as recurring subjects. Ludwig Cluyse exhibits his work with a desire to capture and express the dramatic, fast-paced movement and transmutation of our contemporary, eccentric world, where technology challenges the perception of reality as never before. The artist attempts to co nvey the duality and blurring lines between the real and abstract, real and surreal, certain and uncertain, while relentlessly questioning the limits of the human mind and body. Thus his art searches to convey universal contemporary topics.
