Arno Luzamba was born in Kinshasa, DRC, in 1985. Lives and works in Strasbourg (France). A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts of Kinshasa and the Haute École des Arts du Rhin (HEAR), Arno Luzamba Bompere bases his work on a transcultural and multidisciplinary approach to art. Drawing on museum archives, he creates visual stories where image and text converge in an allegorical expression. Historical facts are translated through a poetic language where plant ramifications reflect the multiple links which, between past and present, define human societies. By bringing together symbols and mental images in a singular pictorial expression, the works of Arno Luzamba Bompere deconstruct History as univocal writing. Retranscribing Memory as an intimate and shared experience, ink and watercolor come together in an evocative transcription of reality, where the image is more evocation than representation. He participated in performances and group exhibitions during the Yango Biennale in Kinshasa in 2014 and at the Palais des Beaux Arts (Bozar) in Brussels. His works have been presented at the Royal Museum for Central Africa in Tervuren, at the Bocs Art Museum in Cosenza and have been included in the permanent collection of the Montresso* Foundation in Marrakech. …
