Thomas Lampert’s photography attempt to portray an observational viewpoint of Serbian culture and its land. Being married to a Serbian national has given him an interesting insight into Serbian culture, but being a foreigner to such a land – spending most of his time between Strasbourg, the UK (his birthplace) and Serbia – has allowed him to stand-back and to capture an image of Serbia with which other outsiders can connect. The aim of his work is to expose the beauty and truthfulness of an often-overlooked culture that is on the verge of membership to the European Union; and to document moments, landscapes, and people that remind us of Serbia’s recent and distant history and its way of life – views that, through modernisation, are threatened to be lost. Thomas is European, originating from the UK, and has spent a great deal of his time in other European countries. But has recently settled in Strasbourg as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Strasbourg. He has for the past seven years taken a keen interest in photography. Travelling around the world has given him the opportunity to photograph many cultures and places. Approximately 20 images, each approximately 25 x 35 cm
