Victorian Tea Time
On Sunday 3 February, the Strasbourg Scottish Country Dancers will be taking part in a ‘Victorian Tea Time’ at the Café de l’Opéra, at the invitation of La Dame de Lys, alias Mélanie Jung, a young jewellery designer, who, each year, organises an original event to advertise her creations. The Scottish Country Dancing group, which is run by Sheila Roberts (Chair) and Elisabeth Hunter (Treasurer) meets on Tuesday evenings in the squash court from 7 to 9 pm . There are an unlimited number of dances to learn: the faster reels and jigs and the more leisurely strathspeys, those from the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society as well as the new ones which are invented by the group or other groups. The group combines the learning of new dances in preparation for social dances or day schools with practising old favourites.

Scottish Country Dancing is social dancing: it is great way to meet people and keep fit. It is energetic and lots of fun but the dances can be complex: SCD is exercise for both the mind and the body!
Come to our weekly practice classes to learn the basic steps, the different formations and dances which will be adapted to your level in preparation for forthcoming events (day schools, balls, ...) around the Strasbourg area and in other parts of Europe.
